Salares
Salares , with little more than 200 inhabitants, is one of the calmest
and typical towns of the Axarquía region. It is in the skirt
of the Natural Park Sierra Tejeda-Almijara, an important natural reserve
where animals like the wild goat, the fox, the eagle or jabalí
inhabit.
The town is a labyrinth of narrow and staggered streets that transfers
us to the past and was chosen for its beauty and tranquillity, to shoot
the exteriors of a film of English production, " the Teacher ",
in September of 1998.
From Salares you can
easily visit many of the picturesque surrounding villages and can also
make one day-trips to places like Granada , where of course the world-known
Alhambra Palace is located. The coast is only 30 kilometres away where
you can enjoy typical fried fish dishes at one of the many bars along
the beach front.
